Female talks – MSTCDC – VOYOTA

November, 2022
Because of the partnership between VOYOTA and MSTCDC, student’s girls are invited since two months to participate in a discussion about an important subject for women in Tanzania 2022.

Last week, the young students and the VOYOTA team were invited to a Female talks with the team of MSTCDC, a privileged partner of VOYOTA, as part of the Her Voice project.

The event was divided into three parts.

First, the topic of the day was the link between climate change/climate justice and feminism. A moderator explained to the girls what was at stake in the discussion and dialogue, which was to get them thinking and talking about the topic.

What is their perspective on the topic of climate change and feminism? What links exist between these two subjects?

A short documentary showed and explained the impact of climate change and rising sea levels on the population of Bangladesh in particular. The action of feminist organizations and associations to fight was explained by the fact that children and young women are more prone to poverty in this country and thus they are the first victims.

Then, the girls had to reflect individually on the subject and answer the question asked. This was followed by a moment of dialogue on feminist action on climate change, how women can be actors in the fight against climate change through their struggle for the feminist cause.

Finally, a question was asked:

What actions today in 2022 to fight against climate change?

The young students were perfectly active in this moment of exchange (plastic recycling, car use…). We hope that concrete actions, even small ones, can have an influence on the climate in the next years, as a challenge for Tanzania and the world.

A long and good moment of freedom of speech and exchange.

To be encouraged and renewed.

What a success!
