Back 2 Green – A program for conserving our nature

Back 2 Green is a sustainable socio-climate change initiative designed for young people that promotes the participation in environment management and serves as a platform for sharing knowledge about the current climate change situation and environment conservation in general.

Our aim is to build a green future for our present and future generations, provide them with a hospitable environment so that we can all breath in clean air by saving Mother Nature.

Programs Objectives

  • Protection and Conservation

The main objective of this program is to protect and conserve our environment and to ensure the adaptation to climate change.

  • Planting Trees

We plant trees on school properties, at local park and other restoration sites.

  • Education and Teaching

We raise environmental awareness and provide environmental conservation education to the community. Furthermore, we construct a tree garden and a tree nursery, which will teach people how trees need to be planted.

  • Inspiration

We aim to inspire people to plant trees, to develop a culture towards the environment and to re-establish their connection with nature.

  • Reduction of Carbon Footprint

We mobilize the urban dwellers to create green habitats and reduce their carbon footprints.

We Are Engaged In All Possible Ways

In order to successfully tackle the challenges of climate change and protect our environment, we created and implemented different projects.

Climate Change Education

In order to raise the awareness on environmental issues, we conducted several teachings and organized three planting events. Additionally, our program includes the formation of Community Facilitators for Change (CFC), the formation of environmental protection and conservation clubs in schools, training of the CFC, establishment of a tree garden center that acts as a demonstration site and supplies tree seedlings to the community. Furthermore, BACK 2 GREEN will open a tree demonstration garden which will be used as a learning center for tree growers, students and conservationists.

Tree Plantation Project

Under this program we transplant tree seedlings, generally for forestry, land reclamation or landscaping purpose. Through this approach BACK 2 GREEN aims to construct a sample garden which will provide education to people on how trees are planted, when the perfect season is and type of tree permitting to the type of soil. In line with this, BACK 2 GREEN provides education on how trees contribute to the environment over long periods of time by improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil and supporting wildlife.

Waste Management Program

Waste management has been a global activity, whereas each country tries to ensure that waste is collected, burned and recycled at proper places. In Tanzania, the community is supposed to bring the waste to proper collection points, where municipal trucks will collect the waste.

Nevertheless, people fail to pay fees or lack basic knowledge on the importance of proper waste disposal on our environment. This program strives to raise awareness on waste management and its impact on our environment.

Industrial Program

Most of the manufacturing industries emit greenhouse gases as a waste product which includes carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and other gases. Greenhouse gases contribute to global warming effects.

Therefore, the program aims to call for the industrial beneficiaries and discuss on how they could assist in the reduction of carbon in the atmosphere by planting a number of trees in their industrial areas. Through this activity, we aim to create green habitats and remind the industrials of their responsibility towards the community and environment.

Household Program

In addition to public tree plantation programs, we also mobilize households to plant trees in their garden and raise awareness on environmental issues by bringing the discussion literally in their backyard. The program assists the distribution of tree seedlings and teaches the community on how to grow and take care of trees. Apart from tree planting and garden creation, we educate the members of the household on waste management, as households are primary waste producers.
